I should have written this a long time ago, but as most of you know, it's really scary showing people the REAL you. It's much easier to hide behind a shiny, pretty Instagram account and you think 'no one cares who you are anyway, they just want to know what you have to offer them'. In the last year, I was happy hiding behind Hunter & Co. and managed to gain a decent Instagram following just by sharing design styles and inspirations.
However, as I transformed what some may call a hobby into my very own real-life online home decor store, I soon discovered something with absolute terror. The only way to differentiate Hunter & Co. from all the other amazing interiors brands in the market is to recognise that the story of Hunter & Co. first starts with me.
So... I'm going to put on my brave face and start by sharing a few things about me:
1) I never wanted to have my own business. I was very content in my finance job working for a big corporation. That was until we bought our family home in London and I realised how HAPPY beautiful interiors made me. However, I felt there was a lack in the UK market for the interior decor styles I love (read more about this in About Us). After that, there was no turning back. Apart from my family and friends, I never thought I would care about something as much as I do for Hunter & Co. and now, I'm so thrilled to have my own business!
2) My boy is called Hunter and I am the 'Co.' He's going to be two in September and I fight a constant emotional battle between feeling proud of the little man he's growing up to be and feeling sad he's growing up WAY too fast.
3) My friends call me a robot because I strangely need very little sleep! I work 4 days a week in the City then go home to spend a few hours with my boy before he goes to bed. Once he's asleep, I open my laptop and start working on Hunter & Co. until 11pm when I finally give my understanding husband the time of the day to watch some Netflix in bed. Hunter tends to wake us up before 6am each morning (why, why, why!) so, now you see, I have no choice but to survive on little sleep!
4) If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be coastal California. I love the weather, I love the gorgeous hues of ocean blues, I love the laid back glam and I love the freshness and brightness of their beautiful coastal homes. But I will always live in London because this is home and London will always have my heart.
Phewwwww! Now that is done, I can't wait to share more of the Hunter & Co. journey with you in the months and years to come!
Do also read our About Us! Apparently, the About Us is one of the least visited pages on a website, which is such a shame because how else will you know who you are buying from and why?
Hopefully you'll get a good sense of our story, style and passion there but if you want to know more about us, just drop me a line at tammy@hunterandcostore.com and I'll gladly get back to you as soon as I can! x
